2021 Stop TB Affected Community and Civil Society Award
We are thrilled to announce that TB Proof jointly won the 2021 Stop TB Affected Community and Civil Society Award, along with Survivors Against TB from India.
This award recognizes grassroot and TB-affected community initiatives. The theme for this year’s award is initiatives aimed to end TB stigma and discrimination. These goals are at the heart of TB Proof’s mission and we have worked passionately with TB-affected communities to move towards person-centred, stigma free and gender responsive TB care for all. We are delighted to receive this recognition of TB Proof’s advocacy to eliminate TB stigma over many years, including our Unmask Stigma campaign to raise awareness and destigmatize TB and UseMyVoice to End TB project implementing community-based stigma assessments to design stigma reduction interventions.
TB Proof thanks everybody who supported and contributed to these goals so far. We commend Survivors Against TB for their shared commitment and efforts to end TB stigma. We still have a lot of work to do, and remain committed to continuing advancing our mission of a TB-free world. We hope that others will be inspired to join the fight against TB!
“As people who have survived TB, we know the barrier that stigma presents, and that is why we do the work we do. We must support people on TB treatment but, to end TB; we must also create an enabling environment free from stigma and discrimination.” Phumeza Tisile, TB Proof.
